"We don't care what you think"
We Hate Everyone
CD: Bloody Kisses

I first was exposed to Type O Negative on MTVX.  It was the video for the song Black no. 1.   I thought the song was good, the video a little weird, but that lead singer was the scariest, sexiest man I had ever seen.

I didn't start listening to them until a few months later.  I bought the CD October Rust.  After the first listen I was hooked.  The dark, erotic lyrics captivated me.  All the CDs from them I like.  Not all their songs are erotic.  They can range from very sensual to homicidal rage.  It's really great to hear music that is not all fluff.

After I saw them live, they became my favorite band.  Their live shows are loud, pulsating, and something you won't forget.  The intensity that comes out in a live performance is incredible

I must spend some time on the lead singer/ bass player: Peter Steele.  I have girlfriends who hate TON’s music, but love him.  Just look at the pictures below to see why.

"I am the shadow with the eyes, eyes of fire
I will fulfill your every hellish desire
Come sit on this throne here beside me and be mine
And we'll watch the flames get higher and higher..."
Black Sabbath (from the Satanic Perspective)
CD: Least of the Worst of.

Peter Steele is so brooding, dark, tall, and sexual that he is not hard to miss or ignore.  I think he is one of the most sensual men in the world.  Watching him in concert was one of the biggest thrills for me (I was only five feet away from him).  The other thrill was getting a drum stick from Johnny.  I have to admit that I do have a soft spot for bass players with Slavic heritage (my husband fits that description too).

"Falling down I am a psychoholic
Erratic and sure I can not fail
Replay slow smooth and automatic
Go easy riding danger"
Blur the Technicolor
CD: White Zombie: Astro-Creep: 2000

I have to thank MTVX again for exposing me to Rob Zombie (Where I live there is no heavy metal radio station, so that video channel is the only way for me to keep up with the new music).  I hadn't listened to heavy metal in years.  Then one day I had MTVX on for background music and the video Dragula came on.  I loved it!!  I went out and bought the CD Hellbilly Deluxe that day.  It reminded me of an old scary stories record that I had when I was a kid (help)*. I wasn't the only one who thought so, my husband made the same comparison.  His music is heavily influenced by old horror movies.  Even when he was the lead singer for White Zombie, you could hear the influences.

As a mother I have no problem letting my children listening to his music (they do get the edited CDs).  It's fun to listen to and as a role model he is one of the few rock performers I want my kids to look up to.  He doesn't use drugs and hardly drinks.

"Dead I am the one
Exterminating Son
Slipping through the trees
Strangling the breeze
Dead I am the sky
Watching angels fly
As they slowly turn
Conquering the worm"
Dragula

Hellbilly Deluxe

Rob Zombie is also one of the most creative performers out there.  He not only writes his own music, but he also is an artist, director, producer, and a screen writer.  The last I heard about the movie that he wrote and directed (House of a 1000 Corpses), was that Universal was not releasing it because it was too gory.  But Rob Zombie said in an interview with Howard Stern that other distributors may pick it up.  We can only wait and see.

HELP:  BTW if anyone remembers that album I would love to find it.  It was actually a square record.  Probably came off a cereal box or out of a book.  It was a spoken word record of horror stories.  One of the stories was about a woman who would not take off a blue ribbon from around her neck.  Her husband finally took it off and her head fell off.  If this jogs any memories in anyone please E-mail me.
